How billing works
In Streams, a seat is free to have. Anyone in your organization can join, view, comment and steer for free. You pay for credits: prepaid seats for the people who have agents working on their behalf every day, and any extra credits you choose to add. The plans themselves are on the pricing page.
Credits
Section titled “Credits”Everything is priced in credits. One credit is one cent, always. A plan can give you more credits per dollar, but the value of a credit never changes. Usage analytics show what each stream and agent has used, in credits and dollars.
What uses credits
Section titled “What uses credits”| What happens | Credits | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Start an agent session | 20 | Gathering the context, and the summary written when the session ends |
| Hand work to an agent | 5 per agent | Packaging the context for that agent and recording what it returns |
| Work done by Streams’ own agents | Metered | For example, about 30 credits to summarize a stream’s day |
| Work done by your own agents | 0 | Billed by the agent’s vendor (Cursor, Anthropic, and so on), as it is today |
| A cycle that improves overnight | 50 per cycle per day | Charged to the stream, not a person. The stream owner can pause it |
| Viewing, commenting, steering | 0 | Always free, for everyone, guests included |
An agent session starts the first time an agent is handed work in a thread, so that first hand-off costs 25 credits: 20 for the session and 5 for the hand-off. Later hand-offs in the same thread cost 5 credits each; talking in a thread with no agent in it costs nothing.
With only your own agents, 1,500 credits covers roughly 40 to 60 sessions: 60 if each session hands work to one agent, about 43 if each one hands work to three.
Prepaid and pay-as-you-go seats
Section titled “Prepaid and pay-as-you-go seats”- Prepaid seats come with a monthly credit allowance of their own. It pays for the sessions that person starts, the agents they hand work to, and the work of Streams’ own agents they run.
- Pay-as-you-go seats are every other seat in the organization. They are free. When someone on a pay-as-you-go seat starts a session or hands work to an agent, it draws from shared credits or a stream’s budget, if the admin allows it.
- Guests from other organizations never pay. Their work draws from the host’s stream budget or shared credits.
Prepaid credits
Section titled “Prepaid credits”Each prepaid seat gets a monthly allowance in one of three sizes. The price is the same on every plan; on Business it buys 20% more credits.
| Size | Price per prepaid seat / month | Team credits | Business credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | $5 | 1,000 | 1,200 |
| M | $25 | 5,000 | 6,000 |
| L | $50 | 10,000 | 12,000 |
- Credits cost the same in every size: half a cent on Team. They are half the price of credits you top up because unused prepaid credits expire at the end of the month.
- Prepaid credits renew on the 1st of each month.
- The admin picks one size, and every prepaid seat in the organization gets it. The size can change at any time, for everyone at once.
- There is no size above L. Beyond it, a prepaid seat draws from shared credits at 1¢ each.
- Yearly billing costs 20% less: S / M / L are $4 / $20 / $40 per prepaid seat per month, and the Business fee is $120 a month, billed once a year. Credits still renew on the 1st of each month.
Business
Section titled “Business”Business is $150 a month for the organization, plus prepaid seats at the same prices as Team. The fee pays for what applies to the whole organization: SSO, audit export and retention, per-member limits, budgets per stream and invoiced usage. It also brings 20% more credits on every prepaid seat and 5,000 included shared credits instead of 1,500. There is no minimum number of prepaid seats.
Shared credits
Section titled “Shared credits”Every organization has a shared balance for work that no prepaid seat pays for: pay-as-you-go seats that start an agent, guests, automations and overnight cycle improvements. Prepaid seats always use their own allowance first.
Included every month:
- 1,500 credits on Free and Team, 5,000 on Business.
- Plus 10% of the credits of every prepaid allowance: 100 / 500 / 1,000 for an S / M / L prepaid seat on Team, 120 / 600 / 1,200 on Business.
Included shared credits renew and expire on the 1st, like prepaid credits. A Team organization with eight M prepaid seats gets 1,500 + 8 × 500 = 5,500 shared credits a month without buying anything.
Adding more (Team and up):
- Top up any time, at 1¢ a credit.
- Auto top-up when the balance drops below a threshold you set, at 1¢ a credit.
- Monthly top-up, a fixed amount added on the 1st of each month, at 1¢ a credit.
- Invoiced usage, billed monthly with a cap (Business and Enterprise).
Credits you buy stay until you use them, as long as the organization is active. Every shared balance has a hard monthly limit the admin sets, separate from how it is funded, so nothing is charged beyond it.
The admin also decides who may draw from shared credits: everyone, prepaid seats only, or up to a set number of credits per person per month.
Budgets per stream (Business and up)
Section titled “Budgets per stream (Business and up)”A stream budget is a capped balance attached to one stream. The stream owner funds it, and the stream’s members draw from it once their own allowance is used, or instead of one if the owner allows it. It gives a project, a department or a pilot its own budget without setting up anything else. Overnight cycle improvements in that stream are charged to it.
Who pays
Section titled “Who pays”For every session or agent hand-off, Streams charges the first balance that can pay:
- The prepaid allowance of the person who started it, if they have a prepaid seat.
- The stream’s budget, if the stream has one and the person may use it.
- Shared credits: included credits first, then credits you bought, if the admin allows it.
If none can pay, the work does not start and nothing is charged. Automations and overnight cycle improvements have no person behind them, so they start at step 2.
When a prepaid seat runs out
Section titled “When a prepaid seat runs out”Its work moves to the stream’s budget or shared credits if allowed. Otherwise that person’s agent sessions pause until the 1st, and the admin can:
- top up shared credits,
- let that person draw from shared credits, or
- move every prepaid seat to a bigger size.
On Free there are no prepaid seats. Everything draws from the 1,500 shared credits, and when they run out, agent sessions pause until the 1st. Your streams, history and finished work all stay, and there is no card on file to charge.
Changing seats, sizes and plans
Section titled “Changing seats, sizes and plans”- Make a seat prepaid any time. The first period is prorated, and the allowance renews on the 1st with everyone else’s.
- Make a seat pay-as-you-go again at any time. On monthly billing it takes effect at the end of the month; on yearly billing, at renewal. Credits already issued stay until they expire.
- A smaller size takes effect at the end of the month on monthly billing, and at renewal on yearly billing. A bigger size applies immediately and is prorated.
- Change plan for the whole organization at once. Moving from Team to Business adds the $150 fee, gives every prepaid seat 20% more credits at the same price, raises included shared credits to 5,000, and unlocks budgets per stream, SSO, member limits and invoiced usage. Upgrades apply immediately and are prorated; downgrades apply at the end of the billing period.
Plan limits
Section titled “Plan limits”| Plan | Prepaid seats |
|---|---|
| Free | None, shared credits only |
| Team | 1 to 20 |
| Business | Up to 250, no minimum |
| Enterprise | Unlimited, on an annual commit |
The number of people in an organization is never limited.
Cancelling Business moves the organization to Team at the end of the billing period: budgets per stream become read-only until it moves back, prepaid credits return to Team amounts at the next renewal, SSO keeps working for 30 days, and nothing is deleted.
Free plan
Section titled “Free plan”- 1,500 shared credits a month, with a hard limit.
- 90 days of history.
- No card required.
Enterprise
Section titled “Enterprise”Enterprise plans are an annual commitment with credits at a committed rate, invoicing, a DPA and SLA, a provisioning API and a named contact. Committed credits roll over for one quarter. Contact us to set one up.
